Authorities said Kristie Miro was charged with murder on Monday for the killing of Ana Nieves after officers found the 56-year-old fully clothed in the bathtub with fatal head trauma.

ABC 7 reports that investigators believe there was an ongoing dispute between the two that allegedly culminated in a hammer attack inside the apartment at 162 East 100th Street.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 6:15 p.m. for a wellness check at the unit.

Upon arrival, Nieves was found inside the bathtub, despite Miro's reported attempt to block officers from entering to check on her.

EMS eventually responded, and Nieves was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miro, who reportedly has a criminal history, had been held by police since Friday night's incident before she was charged Monday morning, ABC 7 reports.
