Brianna Rodriguez, 21, is charged with assault as a hate crime and assault for the unprovoked Aug. 8 hate-fueled attack.
Police said Rodriguez, of Brooklyn, attacked the 41-year-old woman aboard a northbound Q train around 8:45 a.m. after the victim boarded the train at the Newkirk Avenue-Little Haiti train station.
Once on board, the 41-year-old allegedly started using her cellphone while seated next to Rodriguez. Without prior provocation or conversation, the 21-year-old stood up and slugged her several times in the face, police said.
"Why did you hit me?" the victim asked, to which Rodriguez allegedly responded, "I hate Mexicans."
As the train then pulled into the 7th Avenue station, the victim took a cell phone photo of the suspect before she exited the train to parts unknown.
The victim stayed on board and got out at the Atlantic Avenue train stop. Police said she refused medical attention despite having bruises on her forehead and a laceration on her upper lip.
