NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for an armed man who pistol-whipped a woman aboard a Brooklyn subway train and robbed her purse, earlier this month.
Just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, a 44-year-old woman was on a northbound 5 train approaching the Sterling Street subway station in Prospect Lefferts Gardens when she was approached by the suspect, officials said.

According to police, the suspect displayed a firearm and struck the victim in the face before stealing her purse which contained a wallet, approximately $1,000, and an ID.
The victim fell to the ground and the suspect proceeded to kick her numerous times, officials said.
She suffered cuts and bruising to the face and was taken by EMS to NYC Health+Hospitals/Kings County in stable condition.

The suspect detrained at the Sterling Street subway station and fled to parts unknown.
