NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 22-year-old woman was assaulted during an attempted robbery inside of a Bronx subway station early Saturday, and police are searching for her attacker.

The incident happened just before 7 a.m. inside of the Gun Hill Road subway station where the woman was sitting on the platform, police said.
The attacker punched the woman in the face several times and tried to steal her cellphone but was not successful, officials said.
After the attack, the suspect fled the station onto Fenton Avenue. The woman refused medical attention at the scene.
