
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 75-year-old employee of a Brooklyn corner store was assaulted after he tried to stop a thief on Friday night, police said.
The incident happened at 3340 Fulton Street in Cypress Hills around 8 p.m. when a woman attempted to hide store merchandise inside of her coat and leave the store, authorities said.
When the employee saw the woman trying to steal, he attempted to stop her, at which point she hit the man in the face, according to officials.
The man fell to the ground which caused a laceration to his head. The woman fled the scene.
Emergency responders transported the man to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was in stable condition.
The woman is described as being about 5’4” tall with a medium complexion, medium build and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black face mask, a black jacket with a red hood, gray pants and black and white sneakers.
