NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was critically injured when she was stabbed multiple times and beaten with a bat in Queens on Monday evening, authorities said.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., the 19-year-old woman was with a man in a first-floor apartment of a two-family house located on 108th Street near Roosevelt Avenue in North Corona, officials said.
The attacker was the victim's male cousin, the Daily News reported.
The woman called other family members and told them that her cousin was threatening her with a knife, police sources told the outlet.
After the call, the man repeatedly stabbed the victim and hit her with a bat while other members of her family were unable to get into the house.
Upon police arrival, the attacker, who police say is in his early 20s, climbed out of a front window and attempted to run off toward a nearby driveway.
Officials tased the attacker and were able to arrest him.
The woman was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in critical condition, the NYPD said.
The knife and bat used in the attack was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was in custody and awaiting charges Monday night.
