LINDENHURST, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man who struck a police officer and two police vehicles with a car last month was arrested on Saturday night, police said.
Christian Castillo, 20, was arrested in Moriches just after 9:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
Castillo was involved in a police investigation on 50th Street in North Lindenhurst on March 9 around 7:30 p.m., Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said at a news conference last month.
Castillo, who was driving a rented 2022 Mercedes-Benz sedan, is accused of intentionally hitting the officer and then hitting two police vehicles before fleeing the scene.
The unnamed officer sustained a broken wrist and a concussion, according to Harrison, who at the time offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Castillo's capture.
