EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A man has been charged with murder after his mother was found dead Thursday inside her New Jersey home.

The 68-year-old woman was discovered after someone called 911 shortly after 11 a.m. requesting a welfare check at her East Brunswick home, the East Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office told NJ.com Friday.

Once inside the home, police found the woman had suffered fatal injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jason Gordon, her 41-year-old son, was charged with murder and weapons-related offenses after investigators determined he was the culprit.

Whether the New York man had been arrested was unclear, according to the report, and a spokesperson could not be reached for comment Friday night.

Anyone with information about the incident or who has surveillance footage of the area is asked to call East Brunswick Police Detective Robert Thuring at 732-390-6990 or Detective Kevin Schroeck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4194.
