Trio of teens charged in stabbing that killed teen, injured another in NJ

UNION CITY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Three teens have been arrested over a stabbing that left one teen dead and another seriously injured following an altercation earlier this week in New Jersey, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Friday.

A 16-year-old boy and two 15-year-old boys were arrested in the fatal stabbing, authorities said.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Union City Police Department was notified of a stabbing in the area of 40th Street and New York Avenue, officials said.

Responding officers located two teen boys in the area of 40th Street and Bergenline Avenue each with an apparent stab wound.

Allen Flores, 15, was transported to Christ Hospital in Jersey City and later pronounced dead.

A 16-year-old boy remains hospitalized at Jersey City Medical Center with serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit determined that five teens were involved in an altercation prior to two of the teens being stabbed.

The 16-year-old boy is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense.

The two 15-year-old boys were charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon (bat) and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

All three were charged as juveniles.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department are actively investigating this case.

Additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming, Suarez noted.

The names of the teens arrested are being withheld due to their ages .
