OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 21-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years-to-life in prison for fatally stabbing a high school student in 2019, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Tyler Flach and a group of friends attacked Morris and his friends during an after-school brawl outside a strip mall in Oceanside on Sept. 19, 2019 around 3:45 p.m.
During the fight, Flach stabbed Morris in the heart.
Emergency responders rushed Morris to Mount Sinai South Nassau. His heart stopped beating, but trauma doctors were initially able to revive him. He died from his injuries later that night, though.
Flach turned himself in to the Nassau County Police Department two days later.
“Khaseen Morris was intelligent, friendly and had a smile that could light up a room,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. “Tyler Flach stabbed Morris in the chest and took the young man’s life. This was an incredibly senseless murder.”
Flach was convicted of murder, gang assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon on Nov. 1.
