Man wielding meat tenderizer during NJ robbery arrested: police

BERGENFIELD, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a man in connection to a robbery where he allegedly brandished a meat tenderizer on a New Jersey street Monday morning.

Rickent Carrasco, 33, was charged with second-degree robbery with threat of bodily injury, third and fourth-degree weapons offenses, according to court records.

At about 10:20 a.m., Carrasco was carrying a tenderizing hammer when he approached a 45-year-old woman in the vicinity of Murray Hill Terrace and Sylvan Avenue in Bergenfield, authorities said.

According to police, Carrasco robbed the woman her of her purse containing approximately $400, credit cards, and a cell phone.

The thief fled and nearby cops were able to track Carrasco down, who continued to brandish the meat tenderizer, according to Bergenfield police Capt. William Duran.

He was held in the Bergen County Jail to await a court hearing, Duran added.
