PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man charged with killing his infant daughter told police the four-month-old stopped breathing after he threw her into a swing and then onto the floor, authorities said.
Radamez Santana, 22, told investigators that the girl started to cry and that she eventually stopped breathing next to a bed, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by NJ.com.
An unidentified person performed CPR on the infant when first responders arrived at a first-floor apartment on the 500 block of Compton Avenue in Perth Amboy on Nov. 10.
The girl eventually died of her injuries just before 11 a.m. that morning.
An autopsy on Monday found head injuries that did not match the statement Santana told investigators at the time of the incident, authorities said.
On Tuesday, Santana admitted to police that he threw the infant into a swing and onto the floor.
He was then arrested that day and charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
