
NEWARK, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A man and woman were arrested on a string of charges after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and coerced into prostitution, officials said Thursday.
According to Union County officials, 30-year-old Rony D. Game-Palacios and 45-year-old Valdirene Nogueira were arrested for the alleged sexual exploitation of the teen girl.
Game-Palacios is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Valdirene Nogueira is charged with promoting prostitution of a child, promoting prostitution, compelling another to engage in prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.
In September, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received a referral from the Union Police Department about the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
The county’s SVU then investigated the case and determined that Game-Palacios, of Newark, and Nogueira, of Union, coerced her to have sex with him for money after giving her alcohol, according to Assistant Prosecutor Peter Benza who is prosecuting the case.
