
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 34-year-old New Jersey man pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter for a fatal stabbing at the Paterson YMCA last year, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said Friday.

Prosecutors are recommending a 26-year prison sentence for Jasmir Cleaves with five years of supervised parole after his release.
Paterson Police responded on Aug. 6, 2021, to the Ward Street location in response to a report of a stabbing and found 29-year-old Gabrae Sams lying on the hallway floor with apparent stab wounds, officials said.
Medical attention was provided to the victim and an ambulance was requested.
He was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
Cleaves is set to be sentenced on September 20.
