MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. (1010 WINS) Saint Elizabeth University School officials placed the school on lockdown Tuesday morning due to security concerns at a nearby NJ Transit station, authorities announced.

Saint Elizabeth University is in lockdown. Police asked the university to implement a "shelter in place" on the school tweeted Tuesday morning.

"The University is currently in lockdown with a shelter in place due to a police investigation in the vicinity of the Convent Station train station which is adjacent to our campus," said Denise Panyik-Dale, the director of Communications and Marketing for Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown. "We are sheltering in place until further notice from the emergency authorities."

Students, faculty and staff who were not already on campus were advised not to come to campus, according to university officials. Those on campus were told to remain in their current locations until further notice from law enforcement.

Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park also issued a shelter-in-place order, officials added.

Train service was suspended on a part of NJ Transit’s Morris and Essex line as a result of a police investigation near the Convent Station train station.

Just after 12 p.m., the Madison Borough Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the shelter-in-place exercise for all Madison Public Schools had ended but will increase police presence.

Madison police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office have confirmed that it is appropriate to end their shelter-in-place exercise but said there will be an increased police presence at the schools and throughout Madison in an abundance of caution.
