MAHWAH, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The search continued Tuesday for a 41-year-old New Jersey man who went missing over the weekend while hiking along the Ramapo River.

Hector Zamorano, of Mahwah, was last seen hiking in the Ramapo Valley Reservation on Sunday morning.

"It's very out-of-the-realm for him to be missing this long," Mahwah Mayor Jim Wysocki told NJ.com. "It's something that's not his character to be missing like this."

Wyscoki said that fire officials were planning to search the river banks using an airboat on Tuesday morning.

"They had information that he does travel along the river, walking back and forth," the mayor added. "He may have become ill or something (else) happened. Everybody's in a panic to find him."

Zamorano, who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall with dark hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a light, green-hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and dark green shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mahwah Police Department at 201-529-1000.
