
BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 49-year-old man attempted to shoplift $390 worth of merchandise from a New Jersey Walmart on Wednesday and pulled a knife on a store worker who caught him.

The employee told authorities he tried to stop Jayson R. Ruiz from leaving the store after Ruiz was seen shoplifting, Bayonne police Capt. Eric Amato said, NJ.com reported. Ruiz then threatened him with a folding knife.
Ruiz left the store but was arrested at the 22nd Street Light rail Station at 1:39 p.m., Amato said.
He has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
