1 killed, another seriously injured in wrong-way crash on Long Island

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County detectives are investigating a wrong-way crash that killed a driver and seriously injured another on Long Island Thursday night.

According to officials, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Marie Louis, 56, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic westbound in the eastbound lanes of Express Drive South at Maxess Road in Melville, when the vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Louis was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The other driver, Venetia Atkinson, 61, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
