
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured two pedestrians Wednesday night on Long Island.
At approximately 10:20 p.m., a dark-colored sedan traveling westbound on Suffolk Avenue struck a man and woman at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and Suffolk Avenue in Central Islip then fled the scene, authorities said.

The two victims, ages 25 and 34, were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
Detectives believe the vehicle that struck the two pedestrians is possibly maroon with front-end damage.
