Man, 18, struck with gun, slashed during robbery at LI intersection, 2 suspects sought

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are investigating after an 18-year-old man was struck with a gun and slashed during a robbery at a Long Island intersection late Thursday night.

According to detectives, at 11:25 p.m., an 18-year-old man was riding his bicycle south on Uniondale Avenue at the intersection of Southern Parkway in Uniondale when he was approached by two men riding a blue and black colored dirt bike.

The suspects were able to knock the victim off of his bicycle and push him to the ground. One suspect demanded his wallet and cell phone and when the victim refused he displayed a silver revolver handgun and struck him in the face with it, police said.

As the victim lay on the floor, both suspects attempted to remove the victim's personal belongings from his pockets.

The second suspect displayed a knife and slashed the victim across the face causing a laceration.

The victim sustained cuts to his chin and legs and suffered pain and swelling, officials said. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Both suspects were dressed in camouflage and masks fled the scene on the dirt bike, authorites said.
