COMMACK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County officials are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian on Long Island Monday night.
Just after 6 p.m., a 31-year-old woman was driving a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas eastbound on Scholar Lane at the intersection of Shaker Ridge Lane in Commack, when her vehicle struck a pedestrian, authorities said.
The pedestrian, Matthew Conte, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was transported to Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown for evaluation.
Her vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
