BAY SHORE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County officials are investigating the death of a pedestrian that was struck by a car early Tuesday, authorities said.
At approximately 12 a.m., Jennifer Bolgehn, 37, was walking across Sunrise Highway, between 5th Avenue and Brentwood Road in Bay Shore when she was struck by an eastbound 2009 Nissan Rogue, detectives said.
Bolgehn, of Glendale, Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The driver of the Nissan, Joseph Smith, 54, was not injured.
The Nissan was impounded for a safety check.
