NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a new ad on Monday in the hopes of making a political comeback, claiming that his demise was purely political.

The 30-second spot, titled "Politics vs. the Law," includes sound bites from various news outlets discussing how the disgraced former governor's five criminal cases have fallen apart.
"Political attacks won. And New Yorkers lost a proven leader," the ad concludes.
Cuomo resigned in August after Attorney General Letitia James' report found 11 allegations of sexual misconduct against him, putting him in jeopardy of being impeached.
While the advertisement appears to make fun of James and the state district attorney's failure to bring any criminal sexual charges, it does not mention that the DAs said their investigations found the accusations to be credible, with the Oswego County District Attorney insisting the decision is "not an exoneration."
The ad also makes no mention of allegations that the governor used state resources to write his memoir or misreported data on COVID deaths in state nursing homes.
Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi said Monday that his team will "not rest until all the facts are out and New Yorkers understand the full scope of the craven politics and prosecutorial misconduct that permeated this process."
However, it might take more for New York voters to forgive the once-popular Democrat.
A Siena College poll published last week found 60% said they viewed him unfavorably.
"New Yorkers are not ready to forgive and forget when it comes to Cuomo," Steven Greenberg, Siena’s pollster, said in a statement.
