HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A teen driver and his two passengers were killed Wednesday night when an Infiniti went off a Long Island highway and crashed in a wooded area, police said.

Cem Gunes, 16, was driving the Infiniti G37 northbound on Nicolls Road in Holtsville with two passengers, a 17-year-old girl and an unidentified male, when the vehicle crashed just before 9:45 p.m.

The Infiniti left the roadway and landed in a wooded area near Division Street, police said. No other vehicles were involved.

Gunes, of Holtsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner, as were his two teenage passengers.

The female passenger was identified as Taylor Beltramini, of Moriches.

The male passenger was identified as Landon Kromhout Auditore, 18, of Mastic.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Papers from the teens’ backpacks were scattered on the roadway after the crash.

Gunes’ friends said they can’t believe he’s gone.

“I found out in school this morning, and I instantly ran down to the office crying,” his girlfriend said. “I went to his house. I was talking to his parents, they were really upset too.”
