
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Nassau County police have identified the 19-year-old man who was fatally shot outside a McDonald's Wednesday afternoon.

Hector Manuel Valencia Gomez, of Hempstead, was repeatedly shot outside the McDonald’s on Peninsula Boulevard, near S. Franklin Street, in the heart of Hempstead, police said Friday.
Officers responding to a call around 3:45 p.m. found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds outside the restaurant at Hempstead Village Commons.
Valencia Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 4 p.m.

“It's scary,” said a father on Wednesday who was at the McDonald’s with his wife and young daughter during the shooting. He said the back window of his Hyundai was shot out.
Nassau Homicide Chief Det. Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said at the scene that the victim was “absolutely” targeted, Newsday reported.
Police, who said the investigation is ongoing, did not provide any additional details Friday.
The identity of a potential suspect has not yet been made public.
