HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Two women and two teen boys were indicted for second-degree murder after a botched 2021 home invasion led to a man's "senseless killing," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced Friday.
According to the investigation, Jillian Kolsch, 20, Jahshawn Strickland, 17, Jonray Perez, 17, Kayla Alvarenga, 20, and an unidentified person conspired to commit a robbery during a weed deal in Huntington Station on Oct. 27, 2021.
Strickland and the unidentified person planned to set up a dealer by pretending to buy pot from him, and then Alvarenga and Perez would rob the seller of his pot and money.
Strickland and the other person went to the garage of the dealer's Huntington Station house, pretending that they were there to purchase weed.
Alvarenga and Perez, both armed with guns, approached the home's garage, while prosecutors said Kolsch waited in the car as the getaway driver.
When Alvarenga and Perez discovered the garage door was locked, they yelled at the occupants, demanding that they open it or threatening them with violence.
Prosecutors said a member of the group then fired a shot through the closed garage door, striking and killing Louis Lombardo, 28, a friend of the dealer who was in the garage at the time.
"These defendants allegedly conspired to commit a violent armed robbery, and needlessly took the life of an occupant in the home in the process," Tierney said in a statement. "Now, they will have to answer for this senseless killing."
Evidence includes video surveillance recovered from inside and outside the garage.
Kolsch, of Smithtown, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of fourth-degree conspiracy.
Alvarenga, of Deer Park, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy. She is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Strickland, of Bay Shore, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy.
Perez, of Babylon, is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of fourth-degree conspiracy. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
