DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys failed to make a move before the expiration of the NFL Trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.
According to multiple reports, the Cowboys were engaged in trade talks with the Houston Texans, looking to acquire wide receiver Brandin Cooks, in an attempt to give their offense an over the top boost.
However, that deal ultimately fell through, with the Cowboys and Texans unable to come to an agreement on both the return for Cooks, and his remaining $18 million guaranteed salary.
Ed Werder of ESPN was the first to report the news of a deal almost being struck.
Cooks, who seemed to anticipate being dealt, took to Twitter to voice his frustrations after being forced to remain in Houston, and how the Texans 'crossed the line.'
"Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted," Cooks tweeted. "Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career."
The Cowboys currently rank 27th out of 32 NFL Teams in passing, throwing for just 190.6 yards per game.
In 38 games with the Texans, Cooks has 2,541 yards on 203 catches and 13 touchdowns, and has reached the 1,000-yard receiving mark in six of his eight NFL seasons.
