ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys played their third preseason game Saturday night without defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins "out of an abundance of caution under the guidelines of the NFL's Covid related protocols," the team announced in a statement during the first quarter of the game vs the Texans.

Following the game, coach Mike McCarthy said that both Quinn and Watkins left AT&T Stadium about 90 minutes prior to kickoff and they'll be reevaluated by the Cowboys medical staff on Sunday.

It's unknown if Quinn or Watkins were tested for Covid-19 at the stadium or if they were sent home as a precaution after reporting that they weren't feeling well.

Secondary coach Joe Whitt called the defensive plays in Quinn's place.

The team said in their statement that the coaching staff is 100-percent vaccinated and the roster is at a 93-percent vaccination rate against the virus.
