DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys added an offensive playmaker to their receiving corps on Friday night, selecting South Alabama wide out Jalen Tolbert with the No. 88 overall selection in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The reigning Sun Belt Conference player of the year, Tolbert was wildly productive during his college career, making 82 catches for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns in 2021 alone. He also averaging 18 yards per catch.

For his career, Tolbert has 178 catches for 3,140 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Tolbert becomes the third pick for the 2022 draft for the Cowboys, joining Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith and Ole Miss defensive end Sam Williams, who were taken at No. 24 and No. 46 respectively.

Following the trade of wideout Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns this offseason, Tolbert will join the newly extended Michael Gallup, as well as CeeDee Lamb and the newly signed James Washington in a new look receivers group.

The Cowboys also lost reserve wide receiver Cedrick Wilson to the Miami Dolphins via free agency.

With Tolbert now in the fold, the Cowboys can begin to look elsewhere to fill holes in the roster, but could very well look back at the wideout position before the draft is over.
