Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams was arrested Sunday in Frisco on charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones spoke for the first time publicly about Wiliams' arrest and had an interesting perspective on Williams' most recent trouble with law enforcement.

“This sounds a little hollow, but he is maturing,” Jones said to reporters on Wednesday at The Star. “And he is. What was he going, 66? ...That was [32] mph less this year. Ninety-eight to 66, so that’s improvement. We’ll get it down.”

Jones, of course, was referring to Williams' arrest on a misdemeanor charge for reckless driving following his role in a Dec. 22 crash in Plano. In that incident, Wiliams was found to have been driving 98 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Jones also doesn't believe that the most recent incident will impact Williams' ability to play.

"I don't anticipate this impacting his time on the field," Jones. "And I do have all the details. There are some lessons to be learned there for everybody."

Shan, RJ and Bobby reacted to Jones' bizarre comments on Thursday's show.
