In their preseason showdown Wednesday (10/15) in Greensboro, the Memphis Grizzlies were routed by the Charlotte Hornets, 145–116. Daily Memphian Columnist Chris Herrington joined Geoff Calkins on Thursday (10/16) to discuss the blowout loss. AUDIO:

Charlotte overwhelmed Memphis with a ferocious third quarter surge that blew the game open. The Hornets’ offense was led by Miles Bridges, who poured in 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Brandon Miller added 21 points, six assists, three steals, and a block, showing up strong on both ends of the floor.

Memphis got 17 points in return from Jaren Jackson Jr. in his first action back, but the supporting cast couldn’t match the Hornets’ firepower. The Grizzlies shot 42.7% from the field and 43.3% from three, but were thoroughly outmuscled on the boards (33 vs 56 rebounds) and outpaced in transition.

At 0–4 now, Memphis heads into their next preseason tilt looking to shore up defensive gaps and rebounding deficiencies. Next up: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Miami Heat (preseason Game #5 for the Grizzlies) - Friday at 7:00 p.m./Pregame at 6:30 p.m. on 92.9 FM ESPN
