The Atlanta Braves have taken sole possession of first place in the NL East after sweeping the Washington Nationals over the weekend.
The Braves hit 11 home runs in their three-game series against their rivals, including four from shortstop Dansby Swanson alone.
First baseman Freddie Freeman and third baseman Austin Riley each reached the 25-homer mark over the weekend as well.
The Braves now have an opportunity to have four different players hit at least 25 home runs for the first time since 2006. Except, they have a chance at five different players.
92.9 The Game Braves reporter Joe Patrick joined the Midday Show to talk about whether the Braves have the best infield in baseball right now.
"How crazy is it that this team could--aside from the battery; the pitcher, catcher--you could have every single player from first to third hitting 30 homers this year," Patrick told Andy and Randy. "Again, they're all pretty much on pace for it."
Freeman and Riley each have 25 home runs, Dansby Swanson has 24 and second baseman Ozzie Albies has 22 homers. Newly acquired outfielder Adam Duvall hit 22 home runs with Miami before joining the Braves. He now has 26 in total.
"Show me another infield in baseball that has that kind of all-around power. It makes me so optimistic, not just for this season but going forward with that core of players, that is really, really something to build around...It's just great to see everybody in this lineup kind of coming together and hitting their form at the right time."
