Rookies reported to Flowery Branch last week, and veterans will join Tuesday to officially kick off Falcons’ training camp with the 2022 season quickly approaching.
The departure of Matt Ryan headlines the Falcons offseason followed by months of retooling the roster, and while circumstances can change, expectations remain low for Atlanta if you look to the sportsbooks.
GM Terry Fontenot worked to improve the wide receiver room, the secondary and the linebacking core through the draft and a slew of players on one-year ‘prove it’ deals, but the Falcons also enter year two under Arthur Smith with an impending quarterback competition between Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder and uncertainty along the offensive line. With that said, the books have the Falcons 2022 over/under win total at 4.5.
In addition to their NFC South opponents, the Falcons drew the NFC West and the AFC North on this year’s schedule. Giving his opinion heading into camp, Mike Bell said on Dukes & Bell that wins may be hard to come by this season, but was optimistic with his prediction of six wins.
A few callers got as confident to say eight and nine victories with wins coming against a potentially Deshaun Watson-less Browns team in Week 4 and a Saints’ squad without Alvin Kamara in Week 1 and a few other surprise wins along the way.
So, take a look at the Falcons’ 2022 schedule, and with camp set to begin Tuesday, let us know: Over or Under?
