On Wednesday, WSB Sports Director, Zach Klein posted on Twitter (X) he recently spoke with Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., who informed him he believes he may be “ready to go” by Week 1 as he continues to recovery from season ending surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in his left knee.

“The reason why this is a big deal is because look, most of us Mike, have been saying ‘right now, what is our quarterback situation?’” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said on Wednesday as he and cohost, Mike Bell shared their thoughts on Klein’s post on Penix Jr. and how it could impact how new Falcons head coach, Kevin Stefanski, and his staff address the position ahead of the season.

“Where are we, where is he going to be, what does this mean for maybe Kirk Cousins,” Dukes continued as he explained he believes the Falcons have to “look for viable options” as they assess Penix Jr.’s recovery and come to a final decision on Kirk Cousins. “Who’s are guys?” Dukes asked, expressing why the Falcons getting an understanding of when their third-year quarterback back is important.

“Don’t know what that diagnosis is or what the recovery process is going to be for him because everybody’s different. Guys recover quickly, faster than others. But either way, to Mike’s [Bell] point, let’s hope for the best because this makes Kevin Stefanski and Tommy Rees’ job a lot easier if he’s able to start the season on time,” Dukes said.
