USA Today NFL writer Safid Deen joined Dukes & Bell as he attended both live practices between the Dolphins and Falcons. Could we see the 2016 version of Matt Ryan under this Arthur Smith offense?
Safid said he thinks Smith will let Ryan play more like he did in 2016.
“You guys know how long Matt Ryan has been there. He’s 36 getting into his 14th season and his command of Arthur Smith’s offense and what they want to do,” Deen said. “I think Arthur is going to try to let him get kinda get back to 2016 when they led the league offensively.
“If they can kinda get toward that with Ridley and Pitts most of the way I don’t think the red-zone troubles in the tight area would really bother them as much, because you’re probably gonna hit those guys from 20. 30, 40 yards out more so than inside the 5.”
