The city of Atlanta has for many years been one of the trendiest cities in the country. A-list celebrities visit the city often, and many, including several big name athletes have made Atlanta or one of its many upscale surrounding suburbs a chosen place of residence.

Although these athletes find living in the city to be desirable, in the case of the Atlanta Hawks, it seems the team has not been able to attract these same athletes to come play for a franchise that hasn't won an NBA Championship since 1958.

The last major free agent to sign with the Hawks was Joe Johnson in 2005. Since then the Hawks have been successful in signing many mid-level free agents, but never landing the bigger names that are on the open market.

According to NBA insider Terrell Thomas, that may finally be about to change.

Sam & Greg were happy to hear Terrell say, "it does seem like a few guys are looking to come to Atlanta to play with Trae Young."

However, if the Hawks are going to be able to land either a big name free agent or trade for an all-star caliber player to come play alongside PG Trae Young, it will not come cheap.

"He's not afraid to eclipse that luxury tax and pay the fine", said Terrell when referring to the comments Hawks owner Tony Ressler has made about acquiring new talent to join the roster.

NBA free agency will begin in late June after the playoffs have been completed, until then Hawks fans will have to wait to see if indeed the Hawks will be successful in finding the much needed second star.
