CRANBERRY TWP., PA (93.7 The Fan) – He was one of the best players available via trade, yet forward Rickard Rakell remained a Penguin after the 3p deadline on Friday.

Live reaction to NHL deadline

The 31-year-old right-winger leads the Pens with 29 goals (six power play) and was second with 53 points. Rakell even showed out in his last three games with four goals, two against Toronto. He is five shy of a career-high set with Anaheim back in the 2017-18 season.

The Swedish native is signed for three more seasons at $5 million per. Quite possibly the trade talks will pick up again in the offseason.
