Pens signing center Noel Acciari for three years, $6 million on Saturday afternoon. The right-handed shot doesn’t bring a ton of scoring, but brings a ton of energy. Last season between his original team, St. Louis, and then the Maple Leafs, Acciari accumulated 244 hits, had 33 takeaways and blocked 81 shots and was a fan favorite quickly in Toronto. He also won 53.8 percent of his faceoffs last year, 55.4% with the Maple Leafs. He averaged 15 minutes of ice time in the Leafs 11 playoff games.
The Rhode Island native started his NHL career with the Bruins, played 180 games (31 points) before three years with Florida (46 points in 127 games), then last year splitting between St. Louis and Toronto (77 games, 14 goals, 23 points).
