GM confirms Pirates not trading Paul Skenes

Ben Cherington said it’s not part of the conversation this year

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It’s been shot down by various Pirates sources and now by the Pirates general manager, the team is not considering trading Paul Skenes this year.

“No, it’s not at all part of the conversation,” Cherington said Thursday afternoon.

It was the only comment about the reigning NL Rookie of the Year as he is coming off his first complete game Sunday against the Phillies. He is 3-5 with a 2.44 ERA in 10 starts, 62.2 innings, 16 walks and 62 strikeouts with a 0.941 WHIP

The 23-year-old is under Pirates control until 2030.
