PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The last few weeks Steelers receiver Calvin Austin has been a spectator, as the team returned to the South Side on Monday, Austin took part in a few drills as he works to come back.

Austin was keeping his information as close to the chest as he could in talking after practice. He said he will be back to practice when Mike Tomlin approves it.

The 26-year-old said he feels good, that’s he’s right on his timeline to return. Whether that timeline would mean he’s ready for Week 1 of the regular season, Austin said whatever the medical staff and Tomlin says, he will follow that.

He missed his first NFL season due to injury, caught 17 passes for 180 yards and a TD in 2023 and last year 36 receptions, 548 yards, 15.2 average and four touchdowns. This is the final year of Austin’s rookie contract.

“Very frustrating, practice, new team, new year, not being out there is never fun,” Austin said. “Just trying to stay engaged and locked in.”
