PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell upheld the two-game suspension for Steelers receiver DK Metcalf.
The team’s leader in receiving yardage and touchdowns and second in receptions, Metcalf will not be able to play at the Browns on Sunday or next week against Baltimore. Either game could give the Steelers the AFC North title.
Metcalf is out ‘for conduct detrimental to the NFL for initiating a physical confrontation with a fan’ during the game Sunday in Detroit. He swung at a fan who was agitating him. It’s unclear what exactly was said as there are claims of racial slurs that, through his lawyer, the fan denies.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero ‘the NFL and the Lions will not take action against the fan involved in the altercation with Steelers WR DK Metcalf on Sunday in Detroit because "there was no violation of the fan code of conduct," per source’.
The fine is $555,556 in salary for the two games and the actions also voided $45 million in future guaranteed money per his contract, although it would be stunning if the team would alter the original deal barring any future incidents.
