Crosby becomes all-time points leader in Penguins history

Sidney Crosby becomes the Penguins all-time points leader after picking up two points in the first period against Montreal to pass Mario Lemieux.

Crosby tied Lemieux with a goal to get the Penguins on the board in their game against the Montreal Canadiens Sunday night.

He moved past Mario on an assist on a power-play goal by Rickard Rakell to give the Pens the lead.

Crosby now has 1,724 points (645 goals, 1,079 assists) in 1,387 games. In his 21st seasonn he moves ahead of Lemieux (1,723 points; 690 goals, 1,033 assists in 915 games) not only for the all-time Pens points leader, but for eighth in points in NHL history.

Nobody has played more games in a Penguins jersey than Sidney Crosby and nobody has more assists than him. He still remains 44 goals behind Lemieux for the number one spot in that category.

According to NHL.com "Crosby's goal on Sunday gave him his 18th 20-goal season, which is seventh-most in NHL history behind Gordie Howe (22), Alex Ovechkin (20), Ron Francis (20), Brendan Shanahan (19), Dave Andreychuk (19) and Jaromir Jagr (19)."
