PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – With two quarterbacks under contract and none taken in the NFL Draft, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reporting the Steelers signed Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan as an undrafted free agent.
Morgan was a lifer with the Golden Gophers spending six seasons in Minneapolis. At 6’2”, 215 pounds Morgan played in 51 games (started 47) and finished second in school history with 9.454 passing yards and 65 touchdowns. He set 15 school records including passing yards (3,253) and touchdown passes (30) in a season, as a sophomore in 2019. Post-season he played in the East-West Shrine and Hula Bowls and was a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy and a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award-both honors for work off the field.
The Kentucky native was nearly perfect in a 2019 win over Penn State finishing 18-20 for 339 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a four-touchdown performance in 2019 in a win over Northwestern and led Minnesota to a bowl win over Auburn.
Steelers would only say they were working on signing free agents and wouldn’t confirm the NFL Network report.
