According to a report the Steelers are close to signing quarterback Mason Rudolph to a one-year extension.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that, “nothing done yet, but look for it soon for Steelers’ backup.”
Rudolph has started in nine NFL games in his career going 5-4 during that time.
He played in one game in 2020, playing well in the final regular season game against the Cleveland Browns, throwing two touchdowns and 324 yards with one interception.
Pro Football Focus Steve Palazzolo says the extension is just so they Steelers have a backup quarterback.
The move has baffled some.
