After yet another embarrassing loss, calls for Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin to be fired are growing.
On November 19, the Steelers had one of the worst losses of the Tomlin era, a 13-10 L at the hands of rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and the Cleveland Browns.
The loss was so bad, the Steelers did something they haven’t done in season since the 1940s, they fired a coach, Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada.
Last week, the Steelers showed signs of a functional offense gaining over 400 yards. They only scored 16 points but still, it was a start.
Then on Sunday, The Steelers suffered a loss even worse than the one to the Browns.
A 24-10 smashing by the 2-10 Arizona Cardinals.
The score wasn’t even that close with the Cardinals letting Mitch Trubisky and the offense move down the field late in the fourth quarter with little resistance to score a touchdown.
The Fan’s Colin Dunlap says the Steelers just need to move on from Mike Tomlin.
“Mike Tomlin’s time in Pittsburgh now is very similar to Andy Reid’s end in Philadelphia. It’s just time. Change the scenery. Change coach. If he goes somewhere else and has success, so be it. Who cares. But it’s stale here,” said Dunlap on X (formally Twitter).
Maybe he still has it, but it has to be found somewhere else other than Pittsburgh.
Even former Steelers guard Trai Essex was outspoken.
Former Steelers writer Ed Bouchette says it wouldn’t be wise for the Steelers to fire him, because he has trade value.
The facts are the Steelers have only won three playoff games since Super Bowl 45.
They’re last win was during the 2016 playoffs, a 18-16 win.
It’s getting old but the Rooney’s don’t see it that way and it would be a total shock if he was even on the hot seat, let alone fired or traded.
