The Steelers got their wide receiver Sunday evening.

Pittsburgh is trading their 2025 second round draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf was on the final year of his contract with Seattle. Pittsburgh not only traded for him but locked him down for a 5 year 150 million dollar deal.

Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network on X, "The $33M new money average makes it the largest deal in franchise history."

The Steelers needed to address their wide receiver room after a down year. George Pickens only had 59 receptions for 900 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2024. Their second leading target was their tight end, Pat Freiermuth.

With Metcalf at 6'4 210 lbs and Pickens at 6'3 198 lbs, this duo makes the offense a bigger threat.

Last year Metcalf had 66 receptions for 992 yards and 5 touchdowns in 15 games played. That was with a Seattle offensive line that couldn't protect Geno Smith (sacked 50 times, 3rd most in 2024), costing Ryan Grubb, their offensive coordinator, to lose his job after just one season.

Now that they locked down Metcalf and improved the wide receiver room, the Steelers need to address what they want to do at quarterback next.
