PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of injuries to key Steelers players marred the last exhibition game Sunday afternoon against Detroit. Mike Tomlin decided to play his starters the entire first-half and lost NFL Defensive Player of the Year TJ Watt to a knee injury in the second quarter. They also lost receiver Diontae Johnson to a shoulder injury after a diving reception on the second series.

It’s unknown the extent of either injury, the question is whether Watt especially needed the game reps.  Each head coach will handle it differently and Tomlin has said he would live in his fears because of injury.  Even after Watt went down, Tomlin continued to play the rest of the starters including 12-year veteran Cam Heyward.
