PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Even with a couple of the offseason moves, talk the Pirates still needed to add some more power, they did on Monday morning.
Pirates signed 35-year-old mostly designated hitter Marcell Ozuna to a one-year, $12 million contract with a mutual club option at $16 million with a $1.5 million buyout.
In 592 at bats with the Braves last year, the right-handed hitter had 21 home runs. The previous two seasons with Atlanta, he hit a combined 60 home runs.
The last two seasons, Ozuna has strictly been a designated hitter and likely would slot in to be the nearly every day DH with the Pirates.
