The Wolf administration announced Monday that indoor events with more than 500 people will now be prohibited.

Outdoor events will be capped at 2,500.

Currently at Heinz Field, 5,500 fans are allowed inside the stadium, spaced out, with players, coaches and staff bringing the total number to 7,500.

“As Pennsylvania sees an increase in cases, the commonwealth is strengthening gathering restrictions. All large events and gatherings are now reduced until further notice,” a release from the state said.

Due to this new restrictions, the Steelers have announced that, beginning December 6th, the only people allowed in to Heinz Field will be players, coaching staff, and family and friends of players and the organization.

“Today, Governor Wolf’s office and staff health director, Dr. Levine, issued new orders and advisories which will affect our games in December, starting with the game against Washington on December 6,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement. “That order will now limit Heinz Field to no more than 2,500 people in the building including players, coaches, stadium staff, etc.

Consequently, we will have to restrict fans in the seating bowl to family and friends of players and the organization. Fans who have selected seats for the December 6 game will receive communication directly from our ticket office regarding credits or refunds.”

The order issued does not impact the Steelers vs Baltimore game on Thanksgiving. Fans who have tickets to that game are allowed to attend, but must adhere to already published protocols.
