Aaron Rodgers as the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback certainly does not seem like reality, but the idea is starting to crop up on social media.
In fact, according to CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora, the Eagles are among the top three potential landing spots for Rodgers in the NFC.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on April 30th that Rodgers is seriously considering retirement as an option unless the complicated situation with Green Bay is "repaired to his liking." And this came approximately 24 hours after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the "disgruntled" Rodgers no longer wants to play for the Packers.
Rodgers, 37, is the reigning league MVP, a sure-fire future Hall Of Famer, and is under contract through the 2023 season.
Despite what Howie Roseman and the Eagles continue to say publicly about Jalen Hurts, it doesn't feel like the media and fan base is buying Philadelphia's commitment to the second-year QB.
Specifically, La Canfora seems to definitely believe the Eagles are seeking an upgrade the QB position, as he also reported in March that the Eagles were "strong suitors" for Deshaun Watson.
Furthermore, earlier today Peter King listed the Eagles as the co-favorites to land Watson in his most recent NFL column.
“You are judging [Hurts] off of four NFL starts in a tough situation with all the injuries we had," Howie Roseman said last week on Sirius XM radio. "We want to see him grab the job and kinda run with it, and see what you do over a period of time. I remember you told me this a long time ago…the more you can see a player play, the more you can make decisions on that player.
I remember we talked about this when we were talking about even extending players early vs. getting the full body of work and I think that applies here to Jalen. We want to be in a situation where we get as much information as possible, give him the best opportunity, build the offensive line, get him the right weapons, put him in a system that really maximizes his ability and go from there.”
